Another successful sharing day. I also organized all of our language work today. Language is divided into two sections. A lower level and a higher level. The last teacher left everything pretty unorganized so it’s important that we go through everything so we know what we have and where we have it.

Today I was able to lead group and have a standard ‘show-and-tell’. The child tells a little bit about their toy and the floor is then open for the other children to raise their hand and ask questions.

Today I led the morning group time. We go over the day, months, year, and count to the date. We usually do show-and-tell at this group but today the child didn’t bring anything to share. Then later on I started preparing for next month’s unit. There are boxes with work and projects for each month/unit. I am helping organize and go through in preparation to put it all out next month.

Week 1
To briefly describe a goal I have for next week is definitely to create a better plan for myself and what I have to do. My supervisor will be back next week so we should be able to get some things squared away and create more solid plans. I’m really eager to develop and orchestrate activities for the after-school kids. That is what I’m most looking forward to, so next week, my goal is to plan that all out and have it ready for the week after next.

Our classroom is weirdly the only classroom without a ‘Birthday Board’. I have now been tasked with completing a birthday board for my class. I found an idea and started collecting the supplies. I glued pom-poms to popsicle sticks and wrote down all the children’s names and birthdays on the makeshift candles.

Usually, the lead teacher is the one to decide and prepare the valentines for the children, so I was extremely excited to be able to do it this year. We recently got some pop tubes for the class and the kids really love them. So I found some valentines with pop tubes and packaged them all up and wrote everyone’s name on them. It probably sounds quite boring to most, but it means the world to me to get to do these things.

I’m trying to catch up a little bit. On Wednesday I was asked to make a large volcano display for the classroom. This month’s unit is dinosaurs, reptiles, and volcanoes. I constructed a poster-style diorama of a volcano. I have a picture attached.
